Leading Safety developed and first delivered its two-day Executive Health and Safety Leadership Programme on behalf of the Business Leaders’ Health and Safety Forum in 2015. While the structure of the programme has stood the test of time, the rich conversations and insights enabled by that structure have continued to evolve in response to changing context, expectations, and understandings.
Given the complexity and pace of change leaders face, we have put H.G. Wells’s exhortation into practice and revamped our executive leadership programme to ensure its structure continues to enable the conversations that need to be had and provoke the insights that transform leadership effectiveness.
We’re excited to introduce Leading Better Work, the executive development programme formerly known as the Executive Health and Safety Leadership Programme.
The programme now places even greater emphasis on:
- The design of better work to make it easier for people to work well, be free from physical and mental harm, and thrive;
- What is required to lead that effort effectively; and
- Practical ways to enhance one’s own wellbeing, given the need to be well in order to lead well.
All of the aspects of the programme that participants have universally enjoyed and found valuable remain… only more so!

- Explores the mindsets and practices of world-class executive health and safety leaders;
- Builds an understanding of the latest perspectives on health and safety and leadership;
- Creates a safe environment for robust debate and the sharing of experiences and ideas;
- Provides guidance to strengthen health and safety leadership practices;
- Examines how to make these practices stick;
- Establishes a collaborative network of executives committed to leading better work; and
- Includes a 1:1 coaching session.

Directions to Venue
Abbeville Estate can be tricky to find because 9 Uenuku Way shows in the wrong place (i.e., several hundred metres short of the estate) on most map apps.
Type either Abbeville Estate or 2Q3V+GV Auckland (that’s what’s known as a plus code) into your map app and you should come straight to the venue.
Alternatively, follow these directions (assuming you’re coming from Auckland airport):
- Turn right onto Tom Pearce Drive;
- Turn left onto Uenuku Way (immediately before the Z service station);
- Drive to the end of Uenuku Way (several hundred metres past where the map pin shows #9);
- Turn left into Abbeville Estate;
- Park in the designated parking area or, if you’re being dropped off, continue on to the estate itself.
